Default A few questions about my engine(featuring pics)

So While tinkering under the hood of my 90 CRX Si I noticed a sensor that was not hooked up:

Does anybody know what this sensor is for? I would imagine it is not too good to have a sensor sitting there not sensing anything, so I'd kinda like to get it hooked up. I have a ZC swap By the way.

Next question: My check engine light is on. Now, I know there is a way to see what code it is throwing, but I dont know how to tell, to tell you the truth I dont even know where my ECU is (kiond of embarassing). I looked thru the FAQ to try and find how to get the codes but I couldnt find it anywhere so if someone would be so kind as to link me to the right page or just straight up explain it to me I would appreciate it.

Final Question: What is this part here:

The little cylinder thing with the white label on it needs replacing. I believe this has something to do with Idol control?

Thanks for looking guys, I'm sure someone will be able to help me out.

Cheers,
Sixy

That solenoid is for your EVAP canister. It won't affect how your car runs at all really, unless there is a vacuum leak involved in the lines going to and from it. Block off the port on the intake manifold going to it, and you're golden. (Then you can rip out the canister, that electrical taped vacuum hose, and all of the extra hoses that go with it.)

In the first picture, it looks like your O2 sensor isn't hooked up. Splice that white wire into the connector. Do you have a check engine light?!

I dont notice smoke too much. Just when I start the car and first start driving or if I rev the engine real high. I thought it was buring gas rather quickly though.
