Need help ASAP.. built b18c1 with b16a head and crank pulley, doing valve clearance
I have a b18c1 block forged internals, 1st gen b16a head (stock) and crank pulley.
I need to redo my valve clearance because they are very noisy.
Originally I had the GSR's crank pulley but I broke a chunk of the extra belt guide I was not using to save weight and had a buddy lathe it the rest of it off. He didn't do a good job of having it centered in the chuck now it's out of balance so thats why I have the b16a one. ( I lost the GSR pulley so I only have the b16 one now.)
When I compared the 2 pulleys the markings for TDC and timing marks they were in a different spot, probably a few degrees difference.
Now I was thinking that if I were to try to set the valve clearance with the b16 pulley at TDC it will not be correct because the TDC mark is meant for the shorter block, meaning the 1.8L block still has another 8mm of piston travel to get to TDC.
Is that correct what I'm thinking?
Am I stuck looking for another GSR pulley to set it right?

If all you need to do is set the valve lash, then it doesn't have to be spot on TDC for each cylinder to set the clearance. The cams just have to be on the base circle.
I forgot about that I could do the valve lash without it being perfect a TDC, but I still have to redo my timing.
Are b18a's crank pulleys the same as the gsr's?
