i have a 93 civic coupe wit a D15b8 engine in it and i pulled the engine codes and i got that stupid cylinder position sensor code and everyone is sayin just get a new distributor and it will be fine....but i cant find a distributor any where(other than a new one which is to much $$) a couple of my buddies have some 1.6 non vtec distributors but i dont know if i can interchange them

can some one let me know if i can or what other distributors i can use?

Its not always the distributor. My code 9 was the ecu going south.

 

how did you determine it was the ecu and not the distributor?

 

easiest way is to swap in a known good ecu.
works for distributors too.

 

haha ok ill ask and see if any one i know has the same ecu or distributor

 

I'm guessing your buddies' 1.6L non-VTEC is a D16Y7 which is an OBDII motor, as is the distributor, so it wouldn't work on your OBDI motor. (someone correct me?)
