What would cause a car to bogg out around 3500+ rpms? When at low rpms it seems like its running fine, but when i step on the gas after 3500 it just makes a lot of noise but no pull?!?! What do you guys think it is. I'm guessing that my cat converter is starting to get plugged. I don't think its the spark plugs or wires. The exhaust fumes are bad, like not burning all the fuel or running very rich. I have a stock 99hatch, which direction should I go with this?

you might have water in the engin take it up real slow in 1st and take it up to like 6 or 7 and hold it there for like a min. it should clear any thing out that is in there. that is how i fixed my eg i had the same problem. either that or some how your ecu went into safe mode

 

So how does one get water in their engine?

 

if ecu went into safemode, how do i put it back to regular mode?

 

 

i had the same question, but my EG runs like crap til 4000 rpm's... same problem??

 

have you checked it to see if the timing is correct.
