Default sohc vtec vs non vtec...

i am planning on making my 91 civic si as fast as it can go...money not an issue but not going b series...should i keep the a6 and get a cam/headwork/ and turbo the **** outta it (holset boosted around 25psi)....or go with a mini-me......would getting a vtec head benefit me any with my goal? trying to get in low 11's

hmm.... VVT, and a better head vs a normal single cam setup with a lesser flowing head stock for stock.

i can do my own machine work...im taking a engine maching course now so thats no prob....just hear vtecs uneccesary if you got a boost that big am i rite???!?!

Also even if you didn't have VVT the castings and flow of the vtec heads is better stock for stock flat out.

well, a turbo setup capable of running 11s is going to cost WAY more than a vtec head swap. And just a vtec head swap isn't going to get you anywhere close to your goal of 11s, so I don't understand why you are trying to choose one over the other - its apples and oranges.

vtec head + turbo system sounds good to me. For what you want to do (run 11s), you'll need a decent engine build anyways (at least if you wanted it to last). Make sure you check out the boost forum for more info on turbo components and engine builds. Its a lot easier to follow a plan that you know has worked for other people, than trying to figure it all out on your own.

well i was going th holset/vitara route which actually will cost me under 1.5 grand tuned...i can do my own tuning and stuff. theres some other dude who did this with my car/ setup and got the results i want!
