Buying a civic...things to look for or check?
Hi everyone.
I currently have a 1990 Prelude..which I love, but I really need to get a newer car.
I'm currently searching for a 2000 to 2003 Civic. I hope to spend between 5k and 7k. The prelude was my first car, bought when I was 16 from the car lot my family owned. I am however, a computer geek, and not a mechanic. I know a little about the basics. I've changed the brakes on my car and the oil but that's about it.
I've never bought a car before, this will be the first, either privately or from a small dealer and I was hoping some of you could take a second to give me some ideas of things to check, look out for when I'm test driving or looking over a Civic.
First of all, I'm only getting a Standard, I don't like automatics. I'm not too concerned about mileage, over 100k is fine for me... or under.
So what can I check, look at or listen for to try and pick out any potential problems.
Also, anything in these year civics to look out for that are known common problems?

buying any new car you should always look for the same things regardless of what it is. If you aren't sure what to check then take it to a mechanic that fixes your current car and trust to have them check it out for you. Looking on here for what to see won't help you if you don't know what your looking for.
