Default 1990 Base Model Hatch Engine options?

I have a 90 Hatch base model with a 4 speed tranny and my engine is eating around a quart of oil every 200 miles. What engines besides the stock D15 will bolt right up to the 4 speed tranny with no wiring modifications or any other mods for that matter?

I tried searching but found mixed results. This is my beater car so I just wanna swap a new engine in with the least amount of effort possible. I dont wanna have to do any wiring or changing ECUs or anything crazy like that. Thanks in advance! I'm new to the civic end of things and i'm used to preludes.

the easiest engine would be any sohc non-vtec engine from 88-91 civic/crx. any d-series will bolt up to you trans, and if you keep all the IM and exhaust and such from yours than you dont need wiring changes.

so a SOHC ZC swap from hmotors would work then? I saw a SOHC ZC swap on hmotors listed for 88-91 civic/crx that looked like it would work.

Heres the link:

If you were to use that intake manifold you would have to swap to MPFI from DPFI. But i guess you could sell it, and use your DPFI IM.

yah, but in my opinion, i would just go through with the MPFI wiring, cuz if you plan on doing any swap in the future..... you need MPFI. i just did it in my dx sedan with a b16a and it went pretty well. hope this helps you out man.

DPFI to MPFI might sound confusing and alot of work, but if you have the patience and label your wires, it's not that difficult. Plus if you ever wanted to swap in a b-series or ZC your already wired for MPFI. Just my .02

good read: http://www.fourthgenhatch.net/mpfi.html

Thanks for the link. I dont see that wiring being a big deal. I've rewired my old prelude for Vtec and everything so the wiring isnt a big deal. I was just being lazy and didnt wanna have to do it for just a daily driver

I have a d16a6 w/ tranny out of a 91 CRX SI. Completely stock, about 180K, ran fine before I pulled it out. Tranny has no grinds.

Make an offer and its yours. I'm in Southern Maryland, 20650. Its about a 3 hour drive south from philly.

well i managed to score a D16 out of a 93 CX hatch tonight for FREE. im pretty excited about that.

Now what i need to know is what all do i need to do this swap?

Correct me if i'm wrong but i was assuming i need to do the MPFI wiring found on forthgenhatch.net, i need an Si ecu or one that will work with that engine and i need an Si resistor box......I think this is all i would need to do it. Someone correct me if im wrong. Thanks!

BTW, i have a P07 ECU from a 94 VX hatch that i'm not sure would work for this swap or not...

if someone could tell me what i need that would be appreciated. Thanks again guys

EDIT: turns out the engine is a D15B8 so ill just swap my IM and dizzy and I should be good. I may still wire for MPFI though but money is an issue so i may have to hold off on that.
