miss shifting REPAIR UPDATE.....????
I miss shifted from 3rd back into 2nd about two nights ago. Luckily, i didnt gas it in 2nd gear, i just released it back out...but it still redlined badly. Anyways, shortly after that, my car had a rougher idle...and you could also hear it back firing. Something else I noticed was that everytime i started the car, for about the first two minutes, my car would "sputter" when you pushed on the gas....felt like it wasnt going anywhere......
I was almost 100% sure that I had to have bent a few valves, since all this happened right after I miss shifted. Well i stayed up until 6 this morning changing out the valves (both intake and exhaust) and the head gasket...We finally finished, and STILL the same problem. Now im thinking that it wasnt a bent valve....
Now im thinking im having some sort of fuel problem because ALL of my exhaust valves were BRIGHT white....does anyone know y??? My guess is that im running too lean......Im now im guessing that my car is sputtering and idling funny because im not getting enough gas.....what do you guys think?? What should i check/ do next??

did you check the head to make sure it was good?
how about the piston tops?
fuel can be manipuated via a FPR + gauge (B&M combo at optauto.com for under $100).
are you running a v-afc?

What mods do you have?
Just so we're all on the same page....
EDIT:
Hey wait a minute, every time I install new valves I have the head redone to accept the new valves, but maybe that's just me.

Did you inspect your valve seats and valve guides when you replaced the valves? There could still be leaks in there, and damage from a bent valve... Were there any impact marks on the top of the piston?

Compression check and leak down is the key point here....
Also you said you replaced the valves, there is no such a thing as just getting new or used valves and poping them in. You have to seat the valves with a special grinding compound or take it to the machine shop to cut. Personally, I would do a comp and a leak down, and go from there. Also are you throwing any codes?

Is this true, you have cant just pop in new valves, even if they are OEM? My next step will be to do compression check and leak down...ill let you guys know from there.
I misshifted my car from 3rd into 2nd with full throttle and a blown clutch was just the result.
That sputter you hear when you turn your car on is the "throw-out bearing."
