i have a d16z6 head on a y7 block. obd1 dizzy and an p2p computer. well recently my car has been screwing up. sometimes when the motor and tranny get warm (in neutral) i slightly rev it and it bounces off like rev. limiter at 1800-2000 rpm. and then the car in gear jolts when u let off the gas and give it gas. now is this a bad trans & clutch or is this the ECU?

 

Check the timing belt and make sure that your timing is correct. How does the car idle? Any CEL's?

 

idle is kinda high. around 1100-1300 rpm. umm its around 4.5 degree's adavance on cam gear. and lights are on for i believe knock sensor but like i said i had this motor done for a month. and just started acting up.

i reccomend using a p28 to go with the z6 head/distributor
also, what intake manifold? y7 injectors are kind of small for vtec head 190cc/240cc

 

i have the z6 manifold with the z6 injectors. i let it run for a while and sure s**t when i rev'd it a lil it basically bounced off rev limiter.. smelt really rich or lean. then i let it idle.. which idle is a lil higher where it should be. but the funny thing is you can give it more gas and it by passes the like rev lmiter (rev control) stage. idk any ideas?

 

then you should probably get an obd2 to obd1 harness and p28 so you'll be all obd1 instead of half and half

 

that wat i was thinking too. but do u think that will solve it?

 

can't say for sure if it will fix your problem
but I wouldn't expect it to work well with OBD2 ecu and ODB1 distributor + ODB1 sensors on intake manifold.
could be a vacuum leak... or a bad sensor... or an ODB1 sensor sending an ODB2 ecu a signal that doesn't make sense...

yeah, post up any cel the p28 gives

 

the p2p will run it just fine except itll throw a couple cel's obd1 ecus dont read for. sounds like your map sensor is screwed up or maybe the iacv is bad. is this in an ek dx/lx/cx that comes stock w/ a y7?

 

its in a 96 civic ex. y7 lower end z6 head. im thinking its the idle control valve since it threw a code for that and o2 sensor
