I bought this car from a friend and the guy he got it from didnt sign the release and my friend sold it to me ..... im worried and dont no what to do ? i barley turn 18 and this is my first car..... my friend said he could sign it but its not his name so i dont no.. im worried ...the original car owner i think live some where up in San fran and im in LA

If I were you I'd rather call the DMV, they are much nicer over the phone than they are in person.

 

First of all, make sure that this car is not a stolen car by running the VIN # with your local police department. Second, have your friend do a bill of sale to you. Third, send a letter with return address to the original owner base on the addy in the pink splip. If you lucky to get a hold of the original owner he willing to make a written statement and a bill of sale, you are a winner . If your mail get return to you, take that to the DMV and state that both you and your friend have tried to contact the original owner. This should work. How did I know? Been there, done that

so you have the title its just not signed? if thats the case just sign it for him. how would anyone know?

 

yeah true that ...but today i just call up my friend ...and he gave me the bill of sale and he said as long that i have the pink slip and bill of sale i could register ...is that right ...not sure tho !!!??? thanks
