Default HELP...Headlight problems, AC, 0W-30 Mobil motor oil

1. I have a 1994 Accord EX and the right passenger headlight assembly and the cornerlight aren't working. I checked the fuses and they are intact, I replaced the bulb and nothing worked then. I am afraid it's a wiring problem.

-Could there be a short somewhere along the wires?
-Where would I look for the wires to inspect them?

2. The AC isn't working in my car. I called around and most places here in Milwaukee claim they don't have the equipment to either give me an estimate or even repair it.

-What should I do?
-Also I am getting this wierd rubbery smell when i turn on the vents, what could that be?

3. I was at "Wal-Mart" the other day and picked up some Mobil "gas saving" full synthetic 0W-30 motor oil.

-Would It be a good thing to use?
-Pros, Cons?

1) is your fender lining intact? if not, the wiring for the lights could be rubbing on the tire. take a look and see if the wires have worn through. if so the fix is standard wire repair.

2)i've never been to Milwaukee, but i don't think the shops stopped buying equipment in the early 90's... idunno. you can check a few things yourself, find your highside and lowside valves, pull the caps off and (while standing well out of the way) give the valve stem a quick push with a small screwdriver to see if any Freon comes out. you can also look to see if the valves are like tire vavles (shrader) or larger valves, meaning it's been converted to R134a. you're condesor fan should come on with the radiator fan when the car is warmed up. if you notice the (driver's side) fan doesn't come on, your a/c won't work well..

3)i wouldn't put in anything other than what's recommended in your owners manual, unless you have high mileage, oil leaks, heavier weight oil, and are too lazy or cheap to fix the leaks..

5W-30.

Finally after 36 views someone answers.... Thanx a ton man. As soon as I have the time to check that out I'll keep that stuff in mind.

--But the 0W-30 states it exceeds 5W-30... any ideas about that statement?

-Here's what I found on some page I came across:
This is Honda 0W-20 motor oil for use in the Insight and Civic Hybrid. 0W-20 is very thin. Both the Civic and Insight have very tight main bearing clearances (.00095" , just under one thousandth of an inch, about half of what most engines run). Not only will using the wrong oil reduce fuel economy, but may actually ruin the engine. Thicker oil may not be able to squeeze in between the bearing and the journal when cold and cause some serious damage. Honda is currently the only manufacturer using 0W-20 oil.
This is Honda 5W20 motor oil. 5W20 is pretty thin. In the Late '90s when Honda introduced it, no other cars were using it and the only supplier was Honda. Now Ford, and perhaps other, are using 5W20, and Castrol could supply us with this weight. We decided to stick with the Genuine Honda oil.

--I still need to find out waht that smell is when i run the car for a while and turn on the vents....

>>I think I'll rent an AC charge at Adv. Auto Parts and do it myself... The fan doesn't turn on so I need to check the fuse but I Doubt that's the prob.
It might be a wiring problem or maybe some kind of leak...
>>I have yet to check the wiring on the car... waiting for the weekend to do that..
>>I'm finding some suspension problems that I can't pin-point... It's my fiance's car and she needs to start driving it soon... I was thinkin that I would take it in for a full check over se we know what's wrong or what needs to be fixed...
Is there any place I can get a full check-up for a cheap price?
I was thinkin I would go to David Hobbs for it...

They do good work. But they are not cheap from what I remember... Just try calling around for prices. I usually ask friends before I pay anyone
