Default In my quest to replace the clutch, all heck broke loose.

Well, what started as a simple clutch job turned into something much worse. First we pull the axles and almost ruin one of them. The other needs both boots replaced, so we did that went to put the clutch in and noticed that the old clutch didn't have hardly any wear. So, after looking it over we decided that a massive oil leak in between the engine and tranny was what killed this clutch, so, we take the tranny apart, put in the stupid input shaft seal (waited for 2 days on a part) and put it back together and back in the car.

Bolt everything up (also replaced the oilpan gasket) put in the axles and put oil in the tranny and.......oil just leaks right out of the bottom of the inspection cover.

So I guess the bearings that hold the input shaft tight are smoked now, so that really sucks!!

I'm off to the junkyard to pick up another tranny. This CRX has turned out to be quite the PITA!

I'll update everyone as to it's status when I'm done.

thanks,
Chris

Update! After pulling the tranny we discovered that it was the input shaft seal that was leaking, but the Axle seal. What a relief!

So, we replaced the seal and put the tranny back up in about 2 hours and had it on the ground and rolling by 9 oclock. It drives pretty nice. Fun to drive and nice loud exhaust.

I think I'm going to enjoy my CRX ownership.
