I have a 94 hatch with a b16a.Stock motor.My vtec is not kicking in.When the car hits 5000 RPM It slows down sometimes the car turns off and it wont start for another 2-3hrs.So i took it to the shop today the mechanic who was there told me i needed a new valve gasket and oil pan gasket because it was leaking oil. So he put in the new gaskets and i still have the same problem NO VTEC

VTEC isn't engaging because you haven't even hit the engagement point at 5000 rpm. It's 5600 on the B16A I believe. Plus, neither of those gaskets is responsible for oil pressure so that wouldn't be the cause if you managed to get the RPMs up. It sounds like you have other problems to fix first before worrying about VTEC.

 

i know vtec hits at 5500 but it wont go to 5500 car slows down at 5.its like the car is about to turn off
