roll bar mounting plate screw up....
Hey guys... I have a biiiiiiiig problem
I got a shop to weld in my roll bar for me and the dude cut my rear 6x6 mounting plates in 1/2 because he thought they fit better that way..... any suggestions on a fix??
Can I weld the sides on? or do I Hvae to cut it off the floor and slide another plate under??
Any suggestions??
..... I hate working away from home.....

You can bend the plates to make them fit better. The theory I believe is that one solid 6x6 plate will give you 36 sq in of area to keep the roll bar from punching a hole through the floor.
Edit: I just saw that it was already welded to the floor. Might want to call the regional NHRA tech inspector and ask. Sorry. Good luck with your build.

First, it sounds like you just have a rollbar and not a cage, if that is the case I don't think you have to worry since NHRA only certifies cages.
And if you have a cage, you don't have to worry too much. Contact your local NHRA division office and ask the inspector directly. I just had my cage certified and they were more concerned about the quality of the welds and the thickness of the metal.

Yes it's just a Roll Bar, But i would still like it to be safe.
The plates are definetly 6x6 to ditribute the load to a wider area, thus preventing puncture.
My engineering background tells me that welding the peices back on should be fine as, if done properly, you will effectively have a 6x6 plate again.
As far as the quality of the welds I don;t have a problem at all! the welder was amazing, he just screwed up by cutting some of my plates instead of bending them >.<
