D15 Starter Clicking
I've had my 90 ef for a while now and it is emmaculate from the body to the interior to the way it runs...only problem i have not been able to fix due to my lack of knowledge on it is the starter.
i had a mickey moused ignition set up from previous owner cuz the car was stolen (steering column casing broken in half and tumbler not in stock ignition) so i replaced the stock over the weekend and it DOES work but i have the same problem as when i had the mickey moused ignition.
it has one single click when i turn the key, over and over again with each try, then will fire up no problem. OR it will rev rev rev and no start...gotta wait like 5 minutes before trying again then bam there it goes no problem.
i have no power problems, batter is good NEW IGNITION but its gotta be the starter i think.

take a 8gauge wire and run it from the spade connector on the starter to positive side of the battery. If the starter turns over scratch it off the list. Im having the same problem as you are. It was covered last night that it is possibly the ignition switch. Dont quote me on it though.
i just put on a new ignition switch...and i dont have that greddy thing on the other thread so that doesnt really help me out very much...
i'll check the relay as well as the fuse itself imma feel dumb if its a fuse i didnt even think of that haha.

ok well i was looking at the solenoid on the starter and i notice there is the main wire harness going into it.....positing calbe running to it...but no blk/wht wire that should be bolted onto the solenoid. i looked in the manual and it shows 3 sets of wires going to it, i have all but the blk/wht.
also i accidentally arc'ed the started (forgot to disc the battery) and now my shift lock isnt working (button wont compress when pressing on brake) i have to use the manual unlock with my key and also the "no seat belt" and "door open" lights come on when i press the brake pedal.
correct me if im wrong but there is a switch/sensor somewhere on the brake set up that allows the shift button to compress right?
thanks,
