i have a h22 motor with a ATTS setup on tranny. im looking to do all motor and want to put out about 230hp on it. ( skunk2 cams and valvetrain ETC.) is this a good idea on a non lsd tranny?

 

Well an ATTS tranny is in a way a very complex LSD. It's a computer controlled diff that actually allow the outside wheel in a turn to accelerate at a higher rate than the inside wheel. This happens naturally since the outside wheel travels further, but the ATTS diff actually splits the torque more to the outside wheel to create a more neutral, even slightly oversteering FWD experience.

Having said all that I'd ditch the ATTS tranny and engine you have. If you're trying to make big whp then you'll be ditching the computer for the Prelude Type SH, and I don't know if you'd want to try and retrofit the ATTS electronics into a different chassis (such as a Civic I assume) to keep it intact.

You best bet is to get an H22A swap with a regular LSD tranny, NOT the ATTS crap.

I say ditch the engine too because it has different mounting points on the back of the block for the ATTS unit, so you cannot bolt up a standard intermediate shaft from a non-ATTS tranny to it without modifications.

 

ATTS has nothing to do with limited slip functionality in a conventional way, I wouldn't even compare the two as they're trying to accomplish different things.

And as posted above, I'd use a different setup completely.

 

i have no concerns with my h22 motor. im using a chippied p28. i have all mounts and ready to install. my only concern is using my non lsd tranny. im also looking at a h22 to b16 conversion for my h22. anyone have any good advice all i hear is bad things?!?

 

im running the H2B kit and i love it and i have zero problems at all. i drive the car every day and make 237whp all motor. H2B ftw

 

how much did you buy your h2b kit for? does this fit on type SH models also?

I really doubt an H2B kit will work with the Type SH engine, because the H2B kit relies on an adapter for the intermediate axle shaft, and a small area of the block has to be gorund to make this work - I know the area in question is different on the ATTS-equipped Prelude engine block.

Long story short - find a non-SH engine to base your project on.

 

i traded my stock ls for this h22 sh model. im just gonna go with the ATTS tranny. with decent hp i should be ok. does a stage 1 clutch sound good? does anyone else know about this h2b kit not fitting on sh models?

 

ummm what kind of car are you putting it in? if its a civic i would not put a H transmission in it. it will destroy the car of ever putting a b-series back in it. the h2b kit lets you drop it right in just like a regular b series.

Sure take the actual facts I posted and just toss them out the window. You will not get the ATTS working, so why bother?

If you're willing to listen to reason then contact Quarter Sports/QSD and the other company (can't recall their name, but search H2B on H-t or Google) that makes the H2B kits and ask them directly about their kits and the H22A engine that had an ATTS box attached to it.
