Please someone kill me!!! I hate my B16
Well once agian..I f'n hate this motor right now. Still having the same problem...When i try to start it it starts right up then dies right away. It did it 3 times in a row today...then on the 4th it just cranked and didnt start. I tried few more times and it started up. Another weird thing is..On my ignition key if i have it turned all the way on (not starting) my door lights ecu light all those lights that come on right before you start sometimes dont come on but if i tap the key a lil forward more they come on ....Any ideas here before i buy a sohc or something
hmmm, that sounds wierd. Mine did something similar. Except then sometimes it wouldn't start at all. Turned out my main relay's ground was drawing 1.5 volts, so my ecu, and fuel pump weren't getting enough V. I don't think that that's your prob though. Right now I think either my dist's screwed due to code 4 and sometimes 8, or my timing belt jumped a tooth.
Looking at my little old d16 and remembering how it didn't do anything bad to me at all. I'll trade the ZC and Si motor for your b16a swap, jk.
Hope you find it. I'm venting right now b/c I think my car may have jumped 2 teeth since I just went out and looked at it. Grrrr, money pit, but very fun to drive.

ON A SCALE OF 1-10 I WOPULD SAY ITS A 2. You will need a chizel or screw driver and a hammer to get the old one out. The screws holding it on are like rivets on the top. Thats why you need the screw driver or chizel and hammer. Unplug the connections and its out. Very simple job
I'm unfamiliar with the ignition on these cars but since you can get a hammer and chisel in there it leaves me to ask this. Why not drill them out if they're like rivets? Why risk f'ing up the area around the ignition with a mis-guided hammer strike?
I replaced mine on a 88 crx si and I don't think that you have to beat them out. Just remove the wheel to have more room to work. Also NAPA sell them.
After my B20 swap, my friend warned me that he hadn't trouble shot it yet. Needless to say I took it anyway. Went to start it the next day, it would do all types of the wackiness you described, very hard to diagnose, lights come on, starter tries then dies, beeping, lots of confusion. It turns out that a ground wire wasn't tightened down enough. That's it. It was one under the battery tray. Go back and make sure all grounds are snug.
Grounds are tight ...Its still doing this **** ..Its so embarrsing ..I sat today at a gas station tryin to start it atleats 8 times till it did. I hear the fuel pimp and relay comn on ... Im clueless here ..Its giving me a code 2 which is ...nothing ...Grand
Code 2 is your second O2 sensor. Sounds like you didn't wire up the engine correctly. I'm willing to bet your wiring has something to do with your problems.
Isnt it obd0 ? Code 2 for obd1 is 2nd o2 sensor... But its wired right im sure of it . Maybe the o2 sensor is bad .....Im confused and srunk right now on which code chart im suppose to look on ..obd0 or obd1 ?
you dont have to change the whole ignition switch, just the wire harness coming from your fuse box going into the backside of your ignition switch. 2 bolts are holding this on. the ignition contacts become worn out and dirty sometimes. i tried cleaning mine with sandpaper and contact cleaner, it worked for about 2 months and kept dyin on me after that. went to the junkyard, got me a new wire harness and it works great. never has a hard time starting and never cuts off. hth.
try popping your clutch. If that works, then it sounds like the problem I had. My negative terminal on my battery needed to be cleaned and tightened. That was it, and she started up beautifully after!
