Default Lowered my spark gap and it lowered my idle?

I was having a problem where my car felt like it was missing power in the top end from 5700-8000rpm. I had the timing set at 16deg and plug gap at .030.
Someone mentioned to bring it to .024, so I made it .025. It pulls like crazy now but still feels like it has a bit more in it to bring out it's full potenial.
After doing this change of tolerance it lowered my idle from 750-500 rpm? that got me stumped.
Is it ok to run with a gap that small?
Should I leave my timing at 16deg?
Would it be better to advance or retard it a little?

Any help appreciated...

dont adjust the distributor.. could be a big mistake. weather changes can affect idle too. when its warm out car idles around 700. when its mild out 50's car is around 900. why not just adjust the Idle screw?

Reset the idle and see if that works. Unplug IACV, adjust screw to 400rpm, turn off and reset ecu (plug in iacv too). The smaller gap will technically make a fraction less power at lower pressure levels, and at idle on a Honda any bit of load or power loss can be noticed.
