I picked up a 08 CBR600RR about 2 weeks ago and since then I have taken only a few rides with my friends to Cooks Corner, through Carbon Canyon and to the beach (Huntington, Laguna, Newport).
Now there are only so many times you can ride to the beach so I was wondering if you more experienced riders have any places that you like to ride to? Maybe places that aren't too crowded and have nice views/scenery?
Any input is appreciated.

Well i wish i lived in cali, but here in the midwest I usually ride around town and hit the backroads when I'm bored..
I stay away from the interstate because of the unstable road conditions from cold to hot weather changes..And all of the dumbass cagers that drive on it.
I would suggest staying away from the interstate until you are a little more experienced, and try hitting up some backroads or canyons...Just don't push your limits obviously, but I enjoy riding wherever and whenever I get the chance..
Check out local bike nights around your area as well..

Thanks for the input guys. I really appreciate it.
Could you guys also recommend companies for a rear fender delete and possibly some clean flush mount front signals? The stock ones that come on my bike look beefy.

what kind of gear do you own? buy gear first then worry about aesthetics.

Before I picked up my bike I bought a Shoei RF-1000 helmet (had a RX-7 corsair on hold, but didnt want to drive out to Laguna), AS gauntlets, AS leather jacket, AS boots (SMX I believe) and I also have the ICON field armor vest and elbow pads being shipped soon. I wear the leather everywhere I go and even in the hot hot sun.

Yeah, there was no way I was going to pull a "squid" move and not have all the proper gear. It may not be the best of the best, but hopefully it will get me by until I learn much more and pick out something better.
Thanks for the link. I will have to sign up and surf the threads for info

Yep like what Gixx said, just to cruise and know your bike for the first few times dont start raping the whole way in and out yet.
Congrats on the 6!!! If your planning to mod your bike especially those F.E. Kits that tucks your plate way down under your rear hugger I advise you to stay away from the HB area or I assure you will get hassle'd. I've seen sportsbike get pulled over lots of time in the HB area for exhaust/slip-ons and FE kits and flushies.... while them cruiser growllll the whole coast away on the other side of the road
. HB +Sportbikes = Your dead s0n!!! lol

Im pretty sure that I am going to stay away fromt he slip on exhaust. Got some input from expeirienced riders and I would love to be a little more noticeable coming down the road, but I dont want to risk any low end power loss.
Hmm... if the FE kits and flushmounts are going to cause me problems then I might stay away from those also. I dont like being harrassed by the cops whatsoever.

my advice is to find a good group of guys who have their heads on straight to ease you into places like the crest or azusa.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Im about 3 weeks new, but my I always ride in a group of 3-4 people (my buddies) and from their observations they have said I have picked up riding fast. Whenever we go to a canyon or encounter sharp turns they are always taking them slow for me so I can get the hang of it. Im always in the middle of everyone.
Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will just take the simple runs for a little while more and then ease my way into something tha requires a little more skill

Sign up at Socal-sportbikes.com or sportbikers.net and latch on to one of the group rides up azusa or ACH. when both groups have big rides they are really friendly to new riders and will get you started on the right path. Saturday morning at 9am at the Shell station off the 210 is when they generally meet up.
i guess there's no definite rule as to when you're ready for a road like ACH--it can be as dangerous or as safe as you want it to be. I'd give it another month or so before i'd head up there, and just ride a very relaxed pace up there. Having breakfast on a nice summer's morning at newcomb's ranch is fun enough without dragging knee.
sounds like your friends are a good group to ride with. just remember to ride your own pace no matter who or where you are riding. no one will give you a trophy for being the fastest guy on the mountain

Riding with my friends has been great. The first day I picked up my bike they all met up with me and we took a ride dowh Jamboree to the beach and back to my house in Anaheim. They keep telling me to stay 2 cars back from my buddy, but to keep in front of my buddy behind me.
I have found that I am more comfortable leaning to my right side and tend to get pretty low. My left lean still needs a lot of work, but I am enjoying the short rides around town during the week and the nice rides on the weekend.

Seriously. I don't want to be a squid. I always make sure I wear my gear even if I am going 2 blocks down the road (like I did at the Eibach meet). Accidents can happen at anytime and hearing horror stories of people getting pretty hurt with full gear always makes me suit up. I can't imagine how people can ride with a t-shirt and shorts.

hit up a http://www.skillzdays.com/ event. i went once, and learned a few things. you do a bunch of small drills throughout the day that will help you in both slow and high speed situations.
