How to buy gloves?
hmm, good thread. I have never really looked into glove choice. I just have the matching Dianese gloves to go with my suit
I have never heard of a single complaint with Dianese, so I went with them.....plus they make a the Ducati suit.

I had a low speed lowside in it once already. I sent it in to get it checked out and repaired. Mine seems to hold together rather well. My gloves are perfect still, I kept my hands off of the track. I just slid on my butt and back for about 20-30 feet, mostly in the grass/gravel. Dainese has good customer support and they take care of thier customers. I have had nothing but good experiences. They also reccomend that you have your suit inspected before each riding season to ensure that the integrity is suffice. I think you should do the same with ANY suit that you expect to save your skin.

that's what i'm talking about. you shouldn't have to send in a $1,000 (laguna seca 1pc.) suit to get fixed, especially on a 40mph getoff, which my friend had to do. he no longer wants the suit and i don't blame him, he got some rash 'cause the upper left side of the suit totally came undone.

back to glove talk.

I have a pair that are somewhat like these, but they don't have the cf look (just black). They hurt for the first 30 minutes of my first ride, but after the leather gave a little they are comfortable.

I had it repaired and a small section of leather replaced because I did not want fugly scratch marks on my $1200 Ducati race suit. More of a self satisfaction thing than necessity.
Listen to all the people you want on the forums, but until you try a pair on, you will never know what is best for you. Imo don't order online until you try a pair of gloves on locally to know exactly what a pair of gauntlets feel like...I agree with Immortal and vote for gauntlets because of the wrist protection..
-I would rather wear power ranger gloves on my hands instead of a piece of my *** stapled onto my wrist after a crash.

he's saying he'd rather protect his wrists since short (non-gauntlet) gloves don't do much for that area.

Have a pair teknic speedstars (roo palm and fully kevlar lined) and some A* GP Pros. Still havn't opened the A*, thinking about selling them for some racer high ends

I bought some Held Panthers mid-length (mostly because I used to ride dualsports) but now I'm looking to get some Phantoms for more agressive riding and saving the Panthers for commuting duties.
May I say, that once I slided over gravel and broken glass, hand first and my Helds only have a minor scuff. Not one piece of glass pierced through them.

The manufacturing company make these gloves make them for many many companies, they are marketed under many different names.... I've had them for about 2 years, they seem okay... not the best of the bunch as stitching seams exposed on them, and thats not a good thing
These are comparable to Vansons, I have used both and Dainese's. first things first... Please dont try and hand plant if you happen to be taking a tumble, rolling into it, and ride it out on your back
well yeah thats a given for any sport where impact is possible, learning to take a hit is part of the game
Same goes for any contact sport, snowboarding, etc etc
Your back/shoulder/sides are much more sturdy than your wrists
Stop drop and roll mo[freak]a

All I'm going to say is you get what you buy with gloves. I went cheap with my last pair and the webbing in between my fingers is now exposed because of cheaply made gloves.
Not looking to get another pair right now, but next time I'm not spending 20$.
