Default About telling my parents

So they don't exactly know I have a motorcycle yet. I've dropped completely obvious hints and they still don't get it. Any ideas on how to introduce it? Probably just going to roll up with my buds and be like surprise. I've got/getting full gear jacket, helmet, boots, gloves, MSF is in June, days after I get home from school and other than this I think I'm a fairly reasonable kid, I keep my nose clean.

if you aren't mature enough to tell your parents you made an adult decision, id say you aren't mature enough to own a bike, or a car, or a box of cereal. seriously, what is with all these threads about "how do i tell my parents", "how do i convince my parents". even if your parents are the most strict people out there, if you cant face the consequences of your action from your parents to buy a bike, you really aren't ready to face the consequences of owning one. there is no way to tell anyone anything other than to just tell them. "hey son what's new", "well mom and dad, ive been thinking about it for a long time and today i went out and bought a motorcycle." /thread.

LOL see thats an entertaining response by foto. I don't really mind their reaction or have a problem with telling them, even deep down I know they can find acquiring something I want through hard work to be a value they would be glad to have instilled upon me. Most kids my age can't organize 5-6k very easily.

I told my moms I was getting one when I was 17 and she said that she wouldn't allow me to have one. So I just moved out about a week after I turned 18 took the msf soon after and when my license came in with the m1 on it she tossed it and told me "you wont be needing it" But there was nothing she could do and eventually she just lived with it.

Like Rednes, Mom wouldn't let me have one until I was 18. Needless to say I was gone before 17 and when I showed up later after riding my bike cross counrty, she was like cool
21 years later still rippin'

When I was a young child I told my parents that I wanted a bike. My father used to call them murdercycles and my mother was the daughter of a nurse so she heard all of the horror stories. Needless to say my response I received was, "get one and you are out of the house".

No I am 27 and my dad and step mom are pretty upset/worried (mom passed away). My father jokes around and says to take out a hefty life insurance policy and make him the sole beneficiary. He's an *** sometimes, but I know he only says that because he is worried.

There is only so much in your life you can control. When it is your time to go its your time to go. If you want that bike, then you are going to get it and life is just going to play itself out.

Take the course, get all of your gear and always wear it. Other than that ride safe and enjoy it

haha, I'm glad I didn't have to worry about this. My mother told me that I was getting a bikeon my 14th birthday. That upcoming spring she took me to the dealer and bought me a GSXR-600. Which I had paid off by the end of the year.

I love Jamacians......

I just told my parents I want a bike, to get there **** in the car and lets go get it. And thats pretty much how it worked out.

My dad doesn't want me to have it. Mom is ok with it just wants me to be safe. My dad is really strict about certain things like he didn't want me getting tattoos but I have one of those too! But hes ok with it now, probably cause I already have it nothing he can do now..lol

I don't think you are mature enough to write a sentence.

And how old are you? I assume you're in college..And..What do you have to lose by telling them...I'm sure you've done worse things than purchasing a motorcycle in their eyes..You've done, or are doing the right things by signing up for the MSF and by getting proper gear, so it's not like you are going in w/o a condom..

I tell that to my mom. I tell her not to be sad if I were to die since she is my sole beneficiary at the moment the day I die is the day her house gets paid off and that she doesnt have to worry about my funeral expenses since there is always more than enough money in my bank account to cover any expenses that might come up. Also told her that I want my ashes flushed down the toilet at the white house, she didnt think it was funny.

Haha. Too funny. Everytime I get on my bike I just ask my mother to watch over me. That is all I can ask for, anything other than that is up to me.

yeah, she was badass......she rode too. She had a Yamaha V-Star.

I grew up on two wheels and she new I could handle it. Plus, if she was helping me pay or gas, she wanted it to be as cheap as possible Also, I could not drive a car by myself legally in SC until I was 15. I could operate a motorcycle at the age of 14. Just with restricted times. No after dark riding, but I never obeyed it.

I miss her dearly.

Honestly, just be a man and tell your parents. Most here have been right on by saying that if you can't tell your parents then you probably aren't mature enough to own one. Going behind your parents back is a sign of disrespect especially if they are supporting you in any way and in my book shows a complete lack of maturity. If they aren't supporting you in any way and you are completely on your own then there is no issue and you must not have a pair.

I kept telling my mom i wanted a bike for a couple years. Used to have a little 83 Honda 50 scooter of hers and i would repair it and ride it around the neighborhood. Last year i showed up with the bike and she flipped, i talked her into getting on and going for a ride around the neighborhood. After that she loves it and always throws hints that she wants to go on a beach ride, maybe for her bday.

Get them to come infront of your house and then roll some wheelies down the street infront of them.

I'm a little worried because they co-sign my loans for school and I like being able to visit home....every once in a while....my dad had one, I get one.

As far as doing worse things in my life, doubt it much. I bought an 87 rx7 two years ago they still don't know about, lol. I wanted something sportier than my accord-big mistake, car blows whatever. Other than that I'm not one to smoke it up or slam down some brews on the weekend, even in college. Trying to save my money for gear LOL.
