Default EK GUYS OR MECHANICS I NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok so heres my problem i have a 2000 (OBD2B )civic hatchback stock i put in a
96 OBD2a motor in the car complete with OBD2a wiring harness i have the 96 ecu also. Now the problem is that when i plug up the ecu there is an extra clip that comes from the underdash harness that i cant clip anywhere look at pic

heres a pic of ecu

does anyone know how i can solve this problem.
will a 99-00 obd2b solve my problems or will it not work because of my 96 obd2a wiring harness?
also is there a jumper i can buy? and what would it be obd2a to obd2b or obd2b to obd2a.
i know that if i change the wiring harness to a obd2b and get a obd2b ecu i will have no problems i just want to see if there is a faster solution thanks

you need a harness. I dont really understand what combinations of what it is you're using, but you need either the obd2a to obd2b harness or visa versa.

You cant use a 96-98 wiring harness in a 99-00, or vice-versa.
The chassis are wired very differently - lots of stuff will not work (like the tachometer, speedo, etc)

Put your og harness back in the car.
You then have to use an obd2b -> obd2a jumper OR use an obd2b ecu.

Even though it is a pain in the rear. With a couple of wiring diagrams you can re pin the conectors to work with any harness or ecu. and if your not sure then you can always to a continuity check between device and ecu to verify pin.

Get an obd2a to obd2b conversion harness. Or you could get obd1 to obd2b and get a chipped ecu which you might end up getting anyways if you plan on modifying the engine.

By the time you repin a 2a harness to work in a 2b chassis, you would have a 2b harness. Its a whole lot of work for a whole lot of nothing.
Just use the right harness the in the first place....

(thats not as redundant as it sounds)

wuts up man, how ironic, I just did the same swap on my 99 ek...obd2B car
w/ b16 obd2a motor using the jdm harness... running a p2t jdm ecu as well
motor didnt start..so it wasnt plug and play. I had to run the fuel wire from A plug from the car...your going to have to re-run a couple other wires to get it running correctly as well.

Hey man, i don't know if you made a firm decision yet but i just did the exact same thing with my 00 hatch. Don't mess around, use the original harness that came with the car, wire up the vtec if applicable and get a obd2b to obd2a conv. harness and save yourself alot of time.

Thats what I was saying. Only thing is if he has an automatic harness in the car then it prob wont work the same. dunno much about automatic harness.

the car was originally stickshift the fourth plug is coming from underdash harness not from engine harness so you guys are correct both obd2a and b only have three plugs its just that the obd2b ecu has four plugs so thats where that extra clip goes into.

on a good note i found the harness and ecu for 150 at a local junkyard so im heading over there right now i will update you guys on whatever happened lol and like i said before thanks for all the help
