Default Is this my clutch? [EG Civic]

my civic is fairly old [92 DX] and i've been driving it for some time now, lately i've been having some troubles if i dont drive it for more then a day, an example is earlier this month when i went away for a week and didnt drive my car, when i started it up it really bogs out but has no problem really going into gear, so i back my car out of the driveway, put it into first and attempt to drive, but when i give it gas the motor is making noise like it's reving but there is litterally no power going to the wheels, if i keep it in gear i need to stick in the clutch and pretty much do burnout type manuevers to start getting power to the wheels, and even then when i start to move its still really bogging out

then once it feels like the problem is gone and i start to drive, if i shift into 2nd, it will once again lose all power to the wheels, even with the gas depressed to about half throttle, there is zero power going to the wheels and occasionally in this situation the car will just stall completely, once it stalls though and i roll to a stop, i can always start up the car again no problem, and starting off in first gear generally i will be getting power to the wheels now

If I drive my car on a regular basis, day to day even for 15 minutes at a time, it seems like i dont experiance this problem, or not nearly as severely as not driving it at all, and in general driving when it is driving well it seems like it's really lacking in power especially with more then 1 passenger

so clutch? flywheel?

The driving it on a daily basis thing throws me off, but it sounds like you have a dizzy timing problem. Maybe you need to change your fuel filter? iunno.... just some suggestions.

hmm..it could be the dizzy because the one in there now is actually a hybrid that I re-wired out of a buddies SI and I retrofit it into the DX housing

the thing is though, when the car is not getting power to the wheels the engine is still firing/reving as if i had the clutch in?

try advancing your timing a little, if you can use a timing light and check it.

uhg..what a headache..

i can get pretty much brand new dizzy's for 150$ but i dont really want to waste money if it's not the problem..

i figured it it was a problem with the tranny it probably wasnt going to be the actual clutch or bearings because it does not grind, nor have any major trouble going into gear

hmm..

if i was to get a new dizzy and throw it on would i still have to adjust my timing?
