I Hate Engine Gunk
Guys, I finally got my Code 13 issues resolved (knock on wood). Now something that is really bothering me. I have changed the oil in my 89 Civic LX 4 Door and the oil still looks so dirty....Would it be worth doing Seafoam in it??? The girl has 173K. Or could it be something more sinister....Need some opinions.
there are additives that are actually meant to be poured in the crankcase. you might look into one of those.
I have heard too many bad things about seafoam in the crankcase

I'd just go buy a can of BG MOA additive and pour it in, drive the car around for a few days and change the oil again to help break up some of the gunk and allow clean oil to run through the motor.
Just buy 3 qts of super cheap oil and one quart of risolone or marvel mystery oil treatment and do an oil change, then change it at 1000 miles. it should get a bunch of gunk out. also sometimes depending on where you jack the car u from quite a bit of oil can stay in the pan and if its super black the new oil will be dark. or try changing the oil 2 times to get all of the old oil out
