Default Peakboost HVS equipped B16a Dyno

NEW UPDATE: May/23/08 Omni power map sensors FTL!! Map sensor crapped out on me with only two day's of use. Went back to the dyno and re-tuned with a Motorola 2.5bar map sensor and made 370.7whp 244.2wtq on a little less boost. Once again thanks to Nick @ Teknotik for taking the time to figure out what the issue actually was.

So I finally got my car together and installed my new Peakboost HVS topmount turbo kit. The quality and workmanship that goes into their products is unreal. Thanks again Peakboost!!

Anyway's on with the setup.

Bottom end

B16a stock sleeved block
81mm Wiseco 9:1 pistons
Eagle H-Beam rods ARP rod bolts
ACL bearings

Head

B16a cylinder head
98 ITR cams and stock cam gears
SuperTech springs/Ti retainers
Skunk2 Intake Manifold
Stock B16a T/B
Cometic H/G
ARP head studs

Fuel/management:

780cc Injectors
Walboro 255
B&M FPR
STR Fuel rail
Crome
Motorola 2.5bar

Transmission

97 USDM GSR w/QUAIFE lsd
CC Stage 4 clutch

Turbo setup

Peakboost HVS Topmount
Peakboost 3" V-Band Downpipe
PeakBoost Dumptube
Peakboost 475whp Intercooler
Peakboost charge piping
Tial 50mm BOV
Tial 38mm wastegate
Garrett 60-1 63a/r turbo
3" Kteller exhaust
3" Chambered Magnaflow muffler
3" Magna flow cat
3" Vibrant resonator
Hallman Pro MBC

The car was tuned by Nick @ Teknotik.com on a Dynapack. He tuned the car on Crome and did an awesome job. The car idles practically flawless and makes great power. Nick @ Teknotik.com

I should be taking the car back to Nick sometime in the near future to re-tune on Skunk2 Pro 1 and see what kinda power those cams can make VS the ITR cams that are in the car already.

Nick was able to make 356whp and 230wtq on 13psi creeping to 16psi. Here are some of the graphs from the tune.

Boost & AF

HP & TQ

And here are two videos at the dyno

Once again I must thank,

Ken @ Peakboost Great guy and Customer service!
Nick @ Teknotik.com for the great tune and all around good guy!

And to my friends, Cam, Danny and Derek for helping me through out this build.

Very nice. Now, turn up the boost, mang! That Garrett turbo has a lot more in it. Pics of the build & engine bay?

yeah, in for pictures and video.

like I said in the email Jay, the boost controller is more than likely causing this creep issue. i'd look into something like the world pbc-1 or NLR controller. not only for the multi stage options, but also for the duty cycle control.

I would of upgraded your tuning software to ectune or Neptune and just run a $70 solenoid.
I thought teknotik was a Neptune dealer? Why didnt you tune with that instead of crome?

The plan was to get tuned on Neptune, but Nick was having issue's with it, so we opted for Crome instead. As for the boost creep, right now I'm not too sure what I'm going to do. I do want to turn the boost up.. soon. So I guess we'll have to see what will happen. For now, here are some pics. I will hopefully be going to the track this weekend so I'll get some video's up.

The boost creep is whats keeping your torque curve so flat.

With Neptune you can control the duty cycle of a boost solenoid to keep the boost at a steady level, or intentionally raise the boost gradually with the RPMs to keep the torque curve as flat as possible, or at a steady incline.

Was Nick trying to use an RTP board with Neptune? Or his Ostrich/datalogging setup?

I've already had to send my RTP board back for replacement, but have Neptune working on my Ostrich V2 and hulog.

All the cars i've done on Neptune that were previously on crome have had compliments from the owner on how much smoother their car feels and how it runs good ALL the time.

Its nice using a software like Neptune where everything works like it should and works well. I've been very impressed with the results i've been seeing from the cars i've been tuning with Neptune.

Good numbers nonetheless.

LOL at the boost controller causing the boost creep. Couldn't have anything to do with the 38mm WG on the long runner exhaust manifold with shotty WG placement or the fact you have a Stage 5 turbine wheel.

The casing literally split apart. The glue or whatever it is they use to keep it together, came apart. i'll get some pics up after work.

So I'm in the process of looking to purchase a set of new cams. My options are between Skunk2 Tuner Stage 1's or Skunk2 Pro 1's. Can anyone explain to me, what cams would be better suited for my setup? I'm also in the process of building a b18c5 block with 9.1 Wiseco/Eagle rods and will be getting re-tuned on Neptune.

stage 1's should work well with either setup, but i wouldnt get the pro1's unless your going with atleast a 1.8L

When I saw your MAP sensor leaked in person, I was pretty surprised... After doing more reading, it was happening to almost everyone including Hondata's. So far, no complaints with the Motorola MAP, and I wouldn't worry about it unless you plan to run past 2.5BAR of boost

Your car definitely made it onto the video highlights on my shop's website... When you come back for a re-tune from Nick, tell him to give me a shout to make sure I have my camcorder at the shop that night

I appreciate the kind words! I'm in the process of building a 1.8l block and will be hopefully going back to your dyno sooner then later. I'll make sure to let Nick know to call you.
