My Attempt at Polishg * WORK IN PROGRESS *
so i was bored yesterday , opened the hood on the R and for a while now i was playing with the idea of polishing my valve cover , the wrinkle red paint was flaking and looked horrible so i thought why not...
i used a old wire brush i found in the basement and a electric drill, and 2 hours later i was left with this...

it needs more work , i plan on getting a finer wire brush and just polish it to a mirror finish...oh i did the intake too, it was painted gunmetal before lolol.

You'll never get to a mirror finish with a wire brush. You'll have to sand it with medium, then fine grit on a sanding block to get the waviness out of the casting. Polishing brings out even the tiniest flaws. When you get that done, then start buffing with a course red rouge followed with a white polishing compound. It will quickly oxidize unless you have it clear anodized tho. You need a high speed to polish, a drill just won't cut it.
Then mess with everyones head and paint the wire cover wrinkle red.

Why not just spend ~$125 and get a brand new valvecover?
To me that polish job just looks ghetto. Plus...the exhaust manifold cover is missing too.
