How low does the air pressure have to be from the stock to show up in the dash?

tpms is req by the us gov and the next safety feat coming up as a requirement is dynamic stability control. wich i believe the deadline for is 2010. i personally dont like tpms.. i check my tire pressures regularly on both my cars..

i have a 06 ex as my drive to work car and my fun car is a 05 cooper s.. wich ive had nothing but issues with the tpms.. but then again... those would be extremely finicky.. (not sure on spelling there).. bmw parts
