Default What are signs of needing a Valve Adjustment?

As stated above, what are some signs that tells you you need to get your valves adjusted?

I have a bad idle problem and trying to figure it out. IAVC is clean, TB, Cleaned. Maybe valves needed to be adjusted? I hear a lot of air. No vacumm leak either.

Check you TPS and MAP sensors first. Then if those are good perform a valve adjustment. Its good to do one every several air filter changes or so, specially if you have aftermarket cams. I do mine every 12-15k miles now. The first time I installed aftermarket cams on my DD, I waited almost 20k miles to do a valve adjustment, several were at .011 IN and a few at .010" EX. That explained the loud ticking

valvle adjustments are usually noticed as ticking noise. or even if your car has a loss power or gas milage goes a lil bit. but your problem is not the valves even tho u should probally adjust them if you havent.

The #1 tell-tale sign that you need a valve adjustment? Mileage. Just adjust it every 65k-90k miles and you should be fine.

Seems excessive. I mean it's not hard to just measure the clearance, but do you actually end up having to REALLY adjust valves every 12-15k? How aggressive are your cams?

Seems like your valves are just begging to drop.

So let me ask you guys who do the adjustments. If it says something like .006 - .008, does that mean that if i want to adjust it to .007, then .008 shouldn't even be able to fit in the crack? Or will .008 fit but be REALLY snug?

The only thing i don't get about doing a valve adjustment is how much 'drag' the gauge should feel when being slid in and out.
