Maybe a couple of bikes..I don't see how something can cost so much for these bikes. Even just regular forks cost around $400 which is stupid, but its whatever. I guess thats why so many people rather rebuild their own.

I'm not sure your average dude is gonna buy those forks, seems like maybe they sell to race teams. Maybe the OP has a better guess.
hey those froks are from DAN KYLE (dankyleusa.com) hes local from where im from... damn 11k.... i can think of others things to spend that money on.....like ohlins forks! j/k nice!!!
These are World-Superbike level forks, overkill for the street unless you like to prove you can throw a lot of cash at your bike.

Exactly what I thought. Only a race team or a baller with too much cash for his own good would purchase these forks.

idk about that, why do you think so many superbike teams are strugling? they cant find sponsers and they have to buy these parts. i cant imagine how much their swingarms cost

A rebuild/revalve is going to be $400...
Top shelf race parts are NOT cheap, but most riders, even most racers, would never benefit from them (in terms of lap times). A top level 600cc AMA FX bike is ~$50k, Superbike is likely double that.

Which superbike teams are struggling? The WSBK field is stronger than ever, BSB is looking good, and AMA doesnt look any worse than they have in the past.

Well I mean I drive Race cars and we get racing shocks for 40-60 bucks a piece..Some of the big boys get the completly built shocks for a little over $1,000 but thats still nothing compaired to 11K. Just rediculous in my opinion.
But I guess if you're in racing to make money you're in the wrong sport..lol I don't know about bike racing. Never been interested in it really until I got my bike and don't have time to watch them even if I was interested..lol

Factor in enconomies of scale and that helps justify part of why the price is greater for motorcycle parts.

If you're racing in AMA, even as a privateer, and you wanna be competitive, that's what you're gonna get on your bike. Period. What competitive team do you see without Ohlins factory forks? It's not just the forks, they have Ohlins technicians that help you at the tracks to tune and troubleshoot your ride. Not to mention all the R&D that went into designing those forks. The best racing teams in the world including MotoGP factory teams helped design those things.

umm, what shocks are you getting for 40 bux? The cheapest circle track shocks I have EVER seen are Ultimate PRO's or Progross Suspension and they still sell for over $200 each and those are the models without external resivior. I have seen cars that run custom Progress setups or Ohlns and they run around $3-6k and if the team is really out to win or they are just ballers, they have Moton Club's which can run up to and not limited to $14k.
I admit, these are a b it of overkill and they have a little too much bling. There are fork setups out there that function just as well ithout all of the do-dads and trinkets that thes forks have. The extra machining lines actually look like **** IMHO. I grew up in a machine shop, and when you see a finish like that, it is usually because you are retarded and are running the feed rates WAY too high, or you have too much of a gap on passes with the ball end mill. Shitty manufacturing techniques if you ask me.
Kinda like feeling a spiral ridge on aluminum fork tubes. Tells me that they had the feed rate set high and finish cut too deep. Some people think this is a positive trait on aluminum parts, but it is actually the latter.

Well we run the PROs, Bielstien, and Afcos. All of them are fairly cheap and are race shocks. They are nothing like with externals or anything just like road shocks but a lot more firm. I just race stock cars, probably only doing about 110 hitting a dirt corner completely sideways. (hince my name on here).
On dirt Handling is about 80% of the cars ability to win. The remainder is driver ability and engine. Right now I have a car thats 7 years old that Im racing due to being poor..lol and we have one of the best engines, went from 4th to the lead in one lap last week but the handle wasn't there and ended up 8th, given that I had been sent to the rear of the field twice of a 21 car field and came back to 8th twice with an ill handling car in just 15 laps of a race..isn't too bad but dissapointing when you know the engine can win but you can't get a grip on the track.
This bike stuff is all new to me and don't know alot about how they work as far as racing aspect and why they are so expensive. We race on a budget and still run up front..probably about $800 has been dropped into our car this year and we are still competitive..I guess when you get to the big leagues like AMA you have to have the best but I think a good rider can compensate for it..lol

Not sure which pogos you are refereing to but the cheapest bumps I have seen that I would bother takling to the track are about $100 a corner, and that's embaressingly cheap. I am putting a car right now and I am well into 750+ per corner for pogo sticks, and thats not even Motons which could have been gotten for 1200-1500 per corner but I thought that was over kill... at last ot my wallet.

Motons very greatly in proce. You can get shocks anywhere from 1k each all the way upwards of 4k each. Depending on what you application and intnetions are. They have sooooo many different models that it is not even funny.
