I just bought an 00' Civic EX. After driving it for a day the check engine light came on so I checked it myself and also had auto zone check it was P1457 which I've noticed is fairly common. My gas cap releases pressure but doesn't seem like a lot. I've heard of a lot of places and valves and things to check related to the evap canister and whatnot but I'm not sure where they are located.

I also have slight hesitation under 3.5krpm. It just doesn't have power and feels like I'm fluttering the gas a little bit. With the A/C on, it's even worse. Overall the car runs good and idles fine except for the terrible power I get below 3,500rpm.

I checked the solenoid on the fuel rail as well as the one on top of the evap. canister and both clicked like they should when I hooked up 12volts. Anything else I can check?

 

Service manual shows P1457 as Evap control system leak.

Possible causes:
Fuel fill cap
Vacumm connections
Fuel tank
Evap control cannister vent shut valve
Evap control cannister vent shut valve circuit
Evap purge control solenoid valve
Evap purge control solenoid valve circuit
Evap bypass solenoid valve
Evap bypass solenoid valve circuit
Fuel tank pressure sensor
Fuel tank pressure sensor circuit
Evap control cannister
Throttle body

Your going to need to start trouble shooting. I'd start by checking the gas cap, after that, all you can do is start going down the list and eliminate things. Let me know if you need more help with specs and such, and goodluck.
