JDM R Motor Block Code???
What would the block stamp say on a JDM R block? Is it B18C5 or B18C?
If it is just B18C is the only way to distinguish the difference between and R and GSR the p72 or p73 cast in the block? (Assuming the head is off.)

doesn't it also say on the out side near the header??? like where you look to see what year your engine is? should have a P/72, or P/73. but im not to sure of the top of my head.

jdm engines don't have numbers after the code. that's why it's kinda hard to separate the two.

I'm saying without the head. I thought a JDM R motor still said B18C5 even though all other JDM motors dont have numbers.
I guess my next question would be, is the code for a type r p72 or p73?

Absolutely not a B18C5! That's a USDM Type-R block. JDM blocks just have B18C stamped on them (which means GSR and R are hard to distinguish sometimes). I swear I can remember reading a thread that had all the countries Type R block stamps somewhere....
The Type R head is stamped with a PR3-3 and might have green paint on the distributor side of the head near the intake cam (this was done at the factory to identify which heads were to be ported as a Type R). If you don't have the head for identification then pull out a piston and I'm pretty sure that they are stamped with a P73. Thats the only sure way I know of... But I guess you could put Type R pistons in a GSR block to try and make a couple bucks on a sale
