stage clutch vs stock setup
did a lot of searching in archive and never found the question answered
what makes the differnence in an oem setup vs a stage clutch setup?
i heard people say the clutch is the same but only the pressure plate is tougher
is this true?
and what causes a harder pedal feel vs just grabbing harder?

each staged clutch kit is different. however, the basic idea is the same. the higher stage you go, the more power the clutch can hold and put to the wheels without slipping. this usually means more heavy duty parts of the clutch kit as well. the clutch surface is made of different material so it may be more grabby, and the pressure plate usually (but not always depending on the design) has more tension causing a stiffer pedal. clutches also come in disc and puck form. i'm not to familar with that so i can't tell you much.

What you wanna do is search for a clutch pkg that has the ft lb rating that your setup will produce.
So if my turbo setup has 354 whp and 301 lb ft, I what a clutch rated for higher than 301 ft lbs...example, LSD dragger kit.

Exedy stage 1 clutch is the best clutch i have ever used (in my opinion) in my honda career. Im still on the same one after 2 years of daily driving, autocrossing and drag racing and the ocassional street abuse. Its got the same feel to it as the day i installed it, theres plenty of meat left on it, and i would highly reccomend it to anyone who is looking for soemthing a bit more agressive than a floppy stock civic clutch.
