final drive quesiton
question for those who "had / has" different drive on their ITR, no matter wat brand as long as it's aftermarket.. wat's RPM you running when you drive 70 miles on the freeway? i heard that u'll be staying around 6000 rpm even you only crousing on the freeway ?!?!

You can calculate it. An JDM final drive will let your engine turn 4.785/4.4 faster at a certain speed if you keep everything else the same....
I forgot more about hondas then you will ever know....

stock, your car cruises at 4500 rpm @ 80mph. if you install a ATS 4.92 final, your rpm will get bumped up about 500, to 5000 rpm @ 80. barely anything, considering how it help acceleration.

I hate Mondays.
Lots of discussion about final drives going on.
A handful of people (in other threads, not just 1GreyTeg ) have pointed out that this was the best bang for the buck mod they have done. But what exactly has been so great about it?
I know what a change in final drive does, but what do you 'experience' when driving with a jdm or ats final drive? (besides shifting faster and at different mph's)What are the tangible results?? i.e., are you accelerating at a faster rate? torque curve has changed/increased? I would think this mod would increase acceleration.... especially if it is praised by many people. Is this true? Any evidence to support?
Cheers
on a gloomy Monday morning.

For example, if you're making 130lbs/ft at 6000rpm, 3.23 1st gear & 4.4 FD this would be 3.23 * 4.4 * 130 = 1848 lbs/ft to the ground? With ATS 130 * 3.23 * 4.929 = 2070lbs/ft or about 12% more torque. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.
