battery promblem, need help
My car starts up fine this morning i turn the car off i go back to turn the car on and it doesnt start. not even the utility lights turn on. All fuses are fine i mess with it somemore and the utility lights i try to crank it and it clicks i mess with the terminals some more and the utilty lights dont turn on again. The battery is from walmart i go to check it and the check Cold cranking amps and it was a 540, and on the battery it states it should be 435? Ive been messing with the terminals for like the past 20 mins. and ive checked the fuses over and over again. My alternator is fine. this is the second time this battery has done this. If anyone has any advice or could think of anything i could check i would appreciate it thanks.
Batteries don't just discharge themselves(the float voltage does decrease though overtime so it's a bit contradictive) nor do they just die for no reason. Do you have a high current car audio system or other accessories? Do you run accessories with the engine off(no charge going to the battery)? What is the resting voltage(Float) of the battery? What is your voltage with the engine running? Are you sure your alternator's belt is good? Is it charging properly?
to answer your questions. No i dont have a high current audio system. No i do not keep anything running while my car is off. I'll look in a sec to see what the (float) is at. To let you know, it is the correct battery for the car. And yes the belt is tight and the alternator is less then 2 years.
I know that batteries do not just die. And I went to go get it checked at Walmart and they said it was fine. But they only check the cold cranking amps, I dont know what is wrong. If i mess with the terminals abunch sometimes there is power and sometimes there is none. There is no coreosion anywhere on the battery the terminals and the battery are less then a year old.
I think there is just something wrong with the battery. This same thing happen about two months ago and i just got it charged and it was fine but even then there was some promblem chargeing it.
