my car is possessed. stupid cooling system made by the japanese
the car is possessed. okay got a 1995 gsr motor in a 1993 del sol. 95 gsr thermostat with a 93 del sol radiator..single piece, with that being said lets continue. car has a fan switch so i can turn it on whenever i want. checked to see why it takes so long for the car to warm up. found out the car does not have a thermostat. bought a kragen thermostat, installed it and what not and the car over heats when i get on the freeway. i pull over and see the coolant reservoir boiling. i wait for a few minutes. top radiator hose is hot, lower radiator hose cold. then drive off back onto the freeway.....the temp needle slowly drops......and stays in the middle from there on out.
thought it might be a bad thermostat so i bought a thermostat from acura. i changed it what not, drove and it did the same thing? i was thinking it has air in the coolant? where is the bleed valve on the upper radiator hose? right on the side on the block right? well it looks like this piece right here was broken off so they glued it.
is that where the original bleed valve is suppose to be? i'm not speaking about the draincock either*which is under neath the radiator that has a **** that twists. let me know
thanks guys, sorry for it being so long.

Did you take the radiator cap off and look inside? Why don't you fire the car up, take the cap off and keep filling it up until you have sufficient amount, then top off the coolant tank to the cold fill line.

Exactly what they said.
Fill the radiator up all the way. Start the car with the rad cap off. Keep filling until the coolant doesnt go down anymore. This process usually takes 10 minutes or so.
Also may seem like a dumb question but did you install the termostat the correct way? Ive never tried to install it upside down/backwards on a Honda but I know on some cars its possible to do that.

yea i've done that........i've waited and waited the thing is the radiator starts to steam up......and i dont see the air bubbles getting sucked in. thats why i asked u guys if a 1995 GSR has a bleeder valve? and if it does...where is it? NOT THE DRAIN BOLT OR THE DRAINCOCK i am speaking of the bleeder valve on the upper radiator housing.
i installed the thermostat with the sprnig action towards the block and the dangly lil piece facing towards the sky. i'm sure thats the correct way.

Since you have a gsr motor, the bleed valve should be right underneath the Vtec Solenoid. Also flushing the system might not be a bad idea since you said the lower hose is cold it may not be circulating correctly. Another idea may be the water pump, I don't know for sure but you might want to look into these things.

Just squeeze the damn radiator hoses to bleed the air out if you can't find your bleed valve.
# 10 in the photo, but like you said, looks like yours has been plugged.

is it b/c i have a gsr? do GSR's come with a bleeder valve?
b/c the spot where #10 is suppose to be located......all i see is a lil hole....no nut on it at all. and the thing next to it.......that's what i thought was the bleeder valve...but i guess not

hope this helps... we do this with ferraris in the shop... lift the front of the car 6 inches off the ground... like this you have the radiator cap higher level than the radiator hose
i just test drove the car right now. i did what everyone said again even though i do it pretty much every day now
i raised the front end up. blast the heater and left the radiator cap off. i squeeze the top and bottom radiator hose. i do this for like 10 minutes and the bottom radiator hose is still cold. i close the radiator cap and decide to drive it. everything is fine but once i get into 5th gear and cruise it starts to boil and the temp raises. i exit and the temp cools down....now it's in my garage...and the coolant reservoir is filled with coolant.......
what should i do ahhhh

remove you lower hose from the radiator to see is coolant is flowing through. also check to see if you have the little rubber piece that connects to the bottor of the radiator cap. my brothers fell off and was stuck in the radiator causing it to over heat. good luck.
Have you tried running the car without the T-stat? Maybe your water pump is bad like someone stated above? Have you replaced your lower hose? Maybe it collapsed?
to answer your question, honestly i have no idea about the bleeder valve, i've seen quite a few gsr's, ls', type r's a whole lot of b series motors and some have it and some don't. to tell you the truth. but yeah my car had the same problem before i swapped the motor out (i didn't swap it because of that though). but yeah is your car overheating still? if not i say just drive on it.
The Bleeder valve (is actually a bolt) on the front of the block, behind the header kind of.

i don't understand u guys, if u are going to try and help me, please READ THE WHOLE POST BEFORE PUTTING ANYTHING THAT WILL BACKFIRE.
my friend goota, that is the DRAIN BOLT. not a bleeder valve. the bleeder valve is located on the upper radiator hose mounting.

my friend lsvtecfoti, please again..guys read the whole post before you say anything. i said i have a 1995 gsr motor...IN MY DEL SOL....with that being said...since it's a del sol......it has a DEL SOL RADIATOR. 1 piece.
WHY DO PEOPLE READ ONLY THE SUBJECT LINE AND THEN CONTINUE AND TRY TO ANSWER? NOT TO BE MEAN OR ANYTHING BUT IF U WOULD LIKE TO HELP, YOU NEED TO READ AND UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE POST.

Ahh I love the replies to this thread. The bleeder valve will be a bolt located just past the connector where the radiator hose joins the block. It will be on the top or botton hose connector depending on your honda engine. The bolt will sit on the stop of the section where the pipe connects and when you loosen it with the engine on you will get air or coolant comming out of it.
