Sold the ITR :( New car ready for Expo :)
I recently sold my 97 ITR. I loved the car but after having my previous 98 ITR stolen, it just wasn't the same. I had an offer I couldn't refuse on the 97 and let it go.
I think I did the typical progression most ex-ITR owners do and that is go to an S2000. So far I love this car. I drives like an ITR, it's solid, nicer, newer. I think it was a good choice for me.
I signed up for Expo 8 with the intention of bringing the 97 ITR. I decided to still go and bring the new car. After getting some new parts I'm really excited about going. I just hope I can handle the 2500 mile drive each way in such a little car.
The ITR the day I sold it.
New car after the first session of the first track event in it.
Ready for Expo!

Steve, are you ready?!

Very nice, love the wheels, love the car.
Question though, why not S1-Rs? They'd go so perfect with the red paint.
Anyhow, good stuff Tony

Yep, VIR requires any convertible to have a roll bar that mounts in two different planes and can pass the broomstick test. Hard top doesn't change that requirement
I couldn't even use my S2K at VIR

This is really stressing me out. I emailed VIR to confirm this rule. I'm hoping they will let the car on track or else I'm not going to be driving out there. I can't put in a roll bar on that short of notice.

Sorry man, hate to be the bearer of bad news
FWIW, VIR did allow an Ariel Atom on track last year after the owner signed his life away. The guy wrecked it and likely had to pay VIR for every bit of damage he caused (which thankfully was probably only some grass and a group of tires for a tire wall)...
If I had known you were going to get an S2K I would have warned you. There should be something in the Expo thread about it, but we had to deal with that last year too

the guy last year had a cusco bar in his s2k iirc, and they said it was o.k.....I would not personally use one, but I would use the one above.....

Unfortunately VIR does not allow convertibles without aftermarket rollover protection: from the Expo rules http://www.itrca.com/events/expo8/Expo8_Rules.php "Convertibles are NOT allowed without a roll bar. Factory roll bars may not be adequate. A minimum of a 4-point roll bar is required. Please contact event coordinator to verify that proposed roll bar design is acceptable."
I love red s2k's, such a beautiful car!! I hope you can find time to get a roll bar installed.
