Default Question about incorrect dizzy install

Hi everyone.

About 2 months ago I decided to give my 2000 GSR a tune-up. I replaced plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, and the dizzy. I have a Haynes repair manual that says to have the plug wires in a certain order. However... my wires were in a totally different order. So what happened was that the engine just turned over and wouldn't turn on when I used the manual firing order. I then went ahead and just put the wires how they were before the tune-up, and the engine started up with no problem.

My problem however is this, the engine is now getting a ticking/knocking noise that follows the RPMs. I didn't think much of it, but I started doing some research here and it seems that I may need a valve adjustment.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions regarding this?

Thanks!

if your old dizzy worked fine, put it back on and see if the noise goes away. could have been a bad bearing on the new or remanufactured dizzy

Old one did work fine. Unfortunately I don't have the old one, any other way to find out if it could be the dizzy without having to buy a new one?

take the dizzy off and spin the shaft and feel if there is any kind of resistance. If it is hard to turn by hand all the way around or in certain spots then its the bearings and you just need a new dizzy.
