Default CR Hardtop on a non-CR AP2

In short, does anybody know if a CR hardtop will directly fit on an AP2?

I'm looking to buy an S2000 (AP2 or CR). I'd be preferable to the AP2 because its cheaper but I REALLY need a hardtop as it will most likely be a daily driver. (Yesh I have the money to daily drive it).

Just to mention that before I get flamed. Plan on making it turbo DD as well :-)

This topic may be expanded more as I know there is an OEM hardtop offered as well but I'm also not sure how cost effective all this is either. I'm trying to say that the hardtop should cost less than $4000.

Sweet, this is good information. Plus you have the ability to just run softtop if you don't have the hard top easily accessible.

Can anyone else confirm this (not that I don't trust your input)?

you must completely remove the soft top and it's components to install the hardtop.

What kind of bullsh*t is this? You DO NOT need to remove your soft top to install your hardtop.

I'd like to know what led you to believe that Honda created a hardtop that mounts exclusively to the S2K CR?

if a ap2 hardtop = cr hardtop and ap2 hardtop = ap1 hardtop, then cr hardtop = ap1 hardtop

i am installing a ap2 hardtop on my ap1 tomorrow btw.

Well, I wasn't 100% sure because the CR doesn't have that open area behind the seats, its like a molded deck there (which I like a lot). I didn't know how that would interfere with the soft top. I've not owned an S2000 before and I'm pretty sure I'd like to stick with Honda's because I know how to work on them primarily.

That molded deck isn't attached to the hardtop so it wouldn't interfere with your soft top. It's attached to the car, so I would guess this molded deck can be removed, revealing the opea area that would normally be occupied by the softop on non-CR S2ks. When I sat in the CR, I totally forgot to turn around and look back there.

Yes it will. Actually, it should fit on an AP1 also... but don't quote me on that.

The CR ht is a oem ht but in berlina as stated b4 there is no difference in ap1 or ap2 or cr hardtops its the same [freak]ing thing. The only thing that might be different is the hardwhare to install it but I dont know that one. The early ap1's need a wiring harness so they can hook up the defroster.

^ thats good to know. But I think there is a difference in the catchers the ap2's are supposed to be better or something. That dosent mean they dont interchange or you need them to make the hardtop work.
