ignition system for 800hp
Since the stock distributor just wont cut it at high HP levels im looking at a better CDI system.
choosing between 2 ignition systems
aem twin fire ignition

or
M&W pro 10

for an 800hp b series build.

I am running the aem ems T1 cam trigger coil on plug and the aem cdi stay away from AEM's ignition box they are pure crap.I have blown three up and before anyone says that its my fault or the newer box works betterstop. The new box took a dump on me already and I am not tuning it a great tuner is.I would get the T1 trigger and m&w box or just talk to Tony at T! and get his ignition package.

I have installed/tuned with three cars running the epm, coilsticks and the new twinspark with no issues at all. The newer twinspark boxes dont have the issues that the older ones did. I had tons of issues with the older ones, but nothing yet with the newer released ones.

I received our shipment of the revised twinspark boxes about 6 weeks ago. We had them on back order for awhile with AEM. You would have to find a dealer that has recent stock on them. We have a few in stock if you need one.
I know a few of the "new" aem cdi boxes that have failed already.
Apparently you can't build a reliable high quality 4 channel ignition box for $250, gotta cut corners to do it and it shows.

ive heard the same "revised" stuff for a couple years now. both boxes i got were "revised" and said to have fixed the known issue. i hope they fixed the issues but im still a bit skeptical.

As far as I can tell and I have been told they are made by the same people and have the same components.I only heard that they are supposed to withstand more heat and vibration.I also am on the same boat as Tony and Mike this is my third box that I have gone through and the fourth in my cars build the tuner fried one too.I have had a two that lasted a couple of months so its not user error.I like everything AEM makes except the CDI boxes.
I still use the stock distrubutor for cam/crank pick up and to distribute spark with a old *** 7AL2 w/ HVC2 coil and I make well over 800WHP. It really depends on the Fuel management unit and the budget.
i had a car on the dyno that would NOT pull past 6k rpm on the dyno because of a weak distributor. we put a pro10 on it that we got from tony and the car ran picture perfect until we maxed out the fuel system still using the same distributor.
ive been so impressed with the pro10's that i want to start using them on everything. it even makes a world of a difference on the factory ecu based managments (hondata etc)

I was always a big fan of MSD products. I always was the one to defend them when they get bashed on here, until they dissapointed me. 1 day day before a very important race my msd distributor quit on me, I trouble shot it for hours could not figure out why I could not rev past 3500 rpm, at 01:00 in the morning barrowed my friend's stock distributor went to the track and dynoed my car 440whp and 335 tq at 14psi while running rich, and a slipping clutch.
so I returned the unit and got my money back. I would like to have have a better ignition than stock but I will not be messing with msd products anymore.

after I decided to stop chasing MSD products, I start searching to see if there is a aftermarket ignition company that makes internal parts for the honda distributor, ie. coils.
I found this, anyone know the voltage ratings and durability of this coil. http://store.summitracing.com/...w=sku
or. external: http://store.summitracing.com/...w=sku

accel internal is junk. along with the mr gasket. Friends swore they were the Ish.. then a couple late night calls i need a tow home..lol
I went out and got the T1 MW pro 10 kit with Crane coil. Seems to be very promising and alot of people seem to have great success with that. its twice as much as the accel kit but T1 kits are proven. sometimes its just not worth it to be different.
