Problems with my '95 Civic
I have a '95 Civic VX hatch with 250K miles, manual transmission. About 6 months ago I had a full tune up done which included new spark plugs, plug wires, and distributor cap. Then about a month or so ago I replaced the water pump, timing belt, and a valve cover gasket. Everything was going great until about a week ago I noticed that the car was idling low, just above 0rpm. It doesn't stall out, however, just idles low when I am idling at a traffic light or rolling down a hill in neutral. A couple of days ago I also noticed the car seems to sputter when accelerating, then drives normally when I reach higher rpm. It doesn't seem to matter which gear I am in. Any ideas on why this is happening or what I can do? Thanks!
My sisters 94 EX does the same thing.Only difference is hers is a automatic.I think it has to do with the distributor but I'm not sure.If you find out whats wrong let me know.
With what the fuel system cleaner liquid you add to the gas tank?Because I tried that and not only did it not work,I was actually told by this mechanic I know that that stuff is bad for your car....and considering that after using it the spark plugs looked really clean I think hes right.I mean if it can clean the grime off of a spark plug Just imagine what that stuff must do to gaskets.I mean right?
