Default Carb legal question - Comptech Header +SC on Si Sedan

I've looked everywhere for months now, and I can't find any documentation stating whether the Comptech Header is Carb Exempt on the Si Sedan.

I've tried emailing Comptech, but haven't gotten a response. This is something of importance to me, since I live in so cali... I was wondering if anyone here knew.

I made the mistake of buying the K&N SRI based on it being Carb Exempt at the time, only to find out it was only Carb Exempt for the coupe - word from K&N themselves. I still like the intake, but I'm going to have to replce it with a Carb Exempt one eventually now.

I'd also like to know if the SC is Carb Exempt on the sedan - or again, only on the coupe. It kinda sucks that they would bother to do it only on the coupe...

Thanks in advance, guys.

why are u worrying about the carb stuff..i live in so cal too.. and im running with no cat. thats worse than worrying about an intake. by the time u need to smog, your car will be paid off.

i honestly dont see why the comptech/k&n stuff wouldnt be CARB legal for the sedan. it's the same motor after all. i say go for it...but dont hold me to it.

i dont think smog is the main problem here, its getting pulled over. depending on where you live, cops can be a PITA (ie Irvine). the fine for running cat-less is ridiculous and IMO is not worth the risk in CA. i ran catless on my old car and i saw nice performance gains but it made my car really really loud and caught the attention of cops.

I'm thinking the cops where you live aren't the same as the cops where I live. I got pulled over for not a "broken turn signal" and he had pop open the hood of my car, and looked around. And why buy parts that aren't carb exempt, when you can buy parts that are (if you live in cali)?

Less headaches, imo. Anyway, I thought because it was the same motor, my K&N intake would be carb exempt as well, but per the K&N CS rep I spoke to, it's not the case. She said it was more paperwork / testing they had to do, and since the K&N SRI was getting replaced, they weren't going to bother with it.

So I guess there isn't a good answer to my question yet - I guess I'll wait on a response from Comptech.

From what I read in some other threads on here...

It used to be carb exempt but it not anymore since they switched business names so they are having to resumbit the necessary paperwork.... etc. to get it re-carb certed.

On another note, has anyone put the Comptech shorty header on their Si Sedan? Does it fit the same as the coupe? I recently bought one that's supposed to come in next week (I got a really good price on it).
