It would go nicely with my yellow Monster

I'm partial to the Dark
I'm actually a little torn between getting a Monster after I sell the R6, or the New Aprilia w/CVT tranny
The Aprilia Mana looks like an awesome commuter, but I'm not about to dish out an arm and a leg for it when it comes to the US, so we'll see I guess

I LOVE the old carb'd monsters. Something about having to spend $1200 on a computer after I install a better flowing airfilter and exhaust is a major turnoff
I would rather throw in about $15 worth of jets and spend a little time tuning it.....and have just as reliable of a machine.

Bike sat in the garage for the past few years, I'll have to find out for sure if it was started regularly or drained of gas or exactly what the deal was, but the last time i saw it, it started up fine, so you can probably make some assumptions about the battery or gas in the tank
My buddy bought it brand new a few years ago, and got into a skiing accident shortly thereafter and hasn't been 100% since. Held onto the bike the whole time... probably just wishful thinking from there =\
Native Southern Californians + Snow = Disaster?

Honestly, there is still so much research I have to put towards the Monster before I realistically begin shopping. Between the 600 the 620 and the 695...or 6... I get lost. I'm not sure which ones are air/liquid cooled either, or if i want to move up in displacement.
About the only things I am certain about are that the next bike is going to be new and naked

hey Bill if you want a monster you should consider a 750 or higher.
Youre not gonna like the power delivery on anything less
id go with the m900 if i were you
im planning on getting a monster s4r as my next bike

I have teh M900 and it still lacks in power.
I did a dyno of it shortly after I got it and it put down 86whp and 67ft-lb. It is not super duper fast but it is fun. It has the botom end grunt of a TL1000 but the top end of a 600. Kinda wierd mix but it is GREAT for it being a Sport Touring bike.
I plan on getting a set of cams and doing the 944cc conversion and going to 41mm flatslides to really wake her up and bring it closer to where the STOCK s4r's are at.
If you want a really quick out of the box all stock Monster, get a s4r, they are by far the most potent Monster built to date.

Ready to ditch the SV already?
I figured it was about time i bought something new for myself... everything I've ever owned is used in some way or another, and since graduation is just over the horizon, its finally a feasible option
Again, I haven't researched at all yet, but I'll definitely remember your point about the 750ccs or higher. How does it compare to the 650 you have now? Are the older ducati's subject to the new maintenance schedules too, or was it actually a mechanical revision made to the newer ducs?

I still wax most modern 600 supersports
I just cannot compete with a newer literbike at all.....or most any literbike. I can keep up with a cbr1000rr from a dig to maybe 80....then it is over from there. They have about the same torque but have WAY more hp....so they leave me behind rather quickly at higher speeds.
I upped 2 teeth in the rear and it helped a LOT!
It is not a supersport bike by any means tho. The monster is meant for one thing, to be a Sport Tourer. That is all. They are not a race bike and they never will be.

im hearing from a friend who rode a monster 620 that it doesnt pull nearly as hard as my sv
the way i feel about it, if im going to get rid of my sv (now my pride and joy, cuz its pretty modded) to get a ducati monster, i dont want to compromise
its gotta be the one i really want. and that includes a 999 motor, gold forks, brembo brakes, and a single sided swingarm
so the s4r is the route i will take in like a year.
trust me, once you get comfortable on a twin, you may not want to go back.
I cant picture myself owning a supersport anymore simply because the convenience on a naked vtwin is awesome

My buddy has an 00 750 (Red) and they are nice bikes. His bike was the first bike I ever rode.
OP: Very clean bike and the asking price is good also

before i got my monster i almost picked up a 620ss Dark, was so pretty.
then again my 02 monster only had 600 miles on it too

Wow! I can't imagine what it would take to keep an 02 bike to 138-600 original miles 6-7 years later. Riding is addicting, I think I would give in after a week or two and put more than 138 miles on it.

Yeah, wanted to get back into riding but as the years went by i guess he figured out it wasn't happening =\
on the plus side: I sold the R6 on Saturday, after the bills get paid and the new job starts, its gonna be time to find that Monster/Mana/Speed Triple?

they're fun bikes. but ****, the 800SS is slow as hell, the 750 has got to be like riding a spree scooter! haha.
