Default CTR Rods????

Ok Im in the middle of getting my B16b built. It spun a rod bearing and I have to replace the rods. Ive searched and searched for a place to find rods but no luck. The only rods I can find are the Eagle H-beams. Some people tell me that the Eagle rods wont work with the CTR pistons......Anywho. I wanted to know what my rod options are. I want to keep the motor relatively original and not shoot the compression through the roof.

if anybody can provide me with a link on where I can get new rods with stock specs or after market rods that wont kill my motor.

thanks in advance.

i have seen many listings of "B16B" Eagle rods, they wont work. they are listed the same as B16A rods, which are way too short.

if you want an aftermarket rod your going to need to get a set CUSTOM made. there is no other shelf or Honda rod with the same legnth and bearing withs as the B16B motor. sorry bro.

B16A rod is 134mm long
B16B rod is 142.3mm long

Thanks for the answer. I understand there is no after market rod for the CTR but I was hoping there is an after market company that makes rods identical to the stock rods.

I wasn't planning on the running the eagles I was just wondering where I can get stock spec rods for the CTR. Its almost impossible and im kinda scared to buy a set of used rods.

answers are much appreciated.

i dont think im understanding.

CTR/B16B rods are going to have the same big and small end dementions as an Integra Type R rod, its just longer. ill have to look around, i think i have some pics of a B16B rod compairing it to some other B-series rods.

if your not in a huge hurry you might watch ebay, i have seen some come up there. but its though to make sure they arent B16A rods, or just something else all together. you really just need to measure them to make sure you are getting the right ones.

Yea you are correct. They are almost the same as a type r rod. Ive been watching ebay and I havent seen any rods for the CTR come up. There is a member on here selling a set along with pistons but I only need the rods.

If I dont find any rods im gonna have to get a GSR or ITR crank and rods and stroke it to a 1.8 but im trying to avoid doing that. But it seems impossible to find stock CTR rods.

If you can find the part number, you can probably order a new rod through your Honda dealer. JDM parts won't come up in the system, but if you enter the part number first, it will recognize them and they can order them.

13210-PCT-000

and you CANT order them from a US Honda dealer. they can only get parts that would have come on a US Honda. no Acura only ****, no Canadian market cars, etc. your best bet is to talk to one of these JDM import parts/engine places and hope they have connections and can get you one.

Your best bet is to find a ls crank and rods. You can't order JDM parts unless they were brought to the us via honda north america. You could try ebay great britain or japan.

Or you could just get a gsr crank and rods.

I found out that it is. It's basically a B16A with different rods and pistons

Same stroke yes, but not the same crank. The R crank is actually heavier.

Hey Don, haven't seen you on here for a while!

Why is that. Shouldn't it be lighter. Less inertia means an object can change direction easier. And I know that the CTR engine revs higher than the regular B16 right?

counterweights to keep it balanced, thats why.

and they actually use the same bearings as itr/gsr.

Try calling some of the importers like Passoword JDM or H Motors Oline. See if they can just order you a set through their people. It might take a while for delivery though.

Yea I tried all of those people. Almost everyone actually. Im getting to the point where im gonna have one of the good rods measured drawn and cut for me. The reason why im going through all this and not running another setup is because I want to use this motor for NASA H2 racing. And in the rule book it says that the B16B has to be 100% stock. So stroking it to a 1.8 using GSR/ITR internals would render the engine illegal.

so are people allowed to run b18c's? how much do you wanna pay for these stpcl rods anyways, are you looking for new or used? ...i just might have a spare b16b crank and rods...

I ordered a type r diff kit for my last nsx through the local dealer. He couldn't look it up in the system, but when he entered the part number it was sent from Japan.
