4wd crx
There are a couple members on here with 4wd crx's, so I'm sure if you SEARCH (hint, hint) you could find a thread on it. You have to fab up some custom rear trailing arms using both the crx and wagon rta's and shorten the drive shaft, etc, etc, etc.. If you are a good fabricator it can be done but if your not I wouldn't even bother.

Thats a good question??? After adding all the stuff to a crx it would weigh almost as much as a CRV. So whats the point in having a CRX if it's as heavy as a CRV?

I know this is always the conclusion but now I'm curious just how much weight gets added?
I mean the drive shaft and rear end are so tiny, is it just like having an extra passenger maybe?

I pulled these weights off of here https://honda-tech.com/zero...56615
So it looks like 4wd on the crv adds 119 pounds
RD 2000 Honda CRV EX 4WD AT 3245
RD 2000 Honda CRV LX 2WD AT 3126
so maybe if you do it with a HF and keep the dirty D you might still come out just under what an SI weighs
this is with 119 pounds added
1991 Honda CRX DX MT 2103 =2222
1991 Honda CRX HF MT 1967 =2086
1991 Honda CRX Si MT 2174 =2293
BTW this is just my guess

I think if you stayed with the D it wouldn't be that heavy, but once you add the B into the equation it starts adding up. Mounts, heavier motor, axel's, other little things where and there, then you start fabbing drive shafts and trailing arms, different gas tank blah blah blah... Isn't your average B swap weight about 100-150 lbs more?

I'm pretty sure you could also use the parts fom a Integra. They where sold only as sedans with some strange 4wd system also (in japan of course).
But try to find one of those... ha!

LOL, where in the hell did you hear that one?
the engine and trans weigh like 15lb's more, come on, it's an aluminum block, with an aluminum head, with dinky internals
.
Swap mounts are either billet aluminum or steel, but they don't weigh much.
But a 4wd swap would weigh a bit heavier than a straight FWD system obviously.

OK, I know I was off a bit with my #'s but I was just going off the weight diff between the 99 civic EX (2513 lbs) and the 99 SI (2612 lbs). Just about the same car but with different motors.

It's the same system as the CRV. It's slow to respond and actuates via a clutch system.

I amcontemplating this myself...use the trailing arms and center floorpan from the AWD wagon, trans tunnel from same wagon, CRV transaxle and B20, shortened transfer shaft. Then again, I have none of the parts in front of me, so I can't positively comment on this.
wouldnt the tranny not bolt up?
i know you can do it with D series
but never heard of doing it with B series
i swapped in a D16ZC into my 90 crx
and i was thinking of making it AWD

The trailing arms are different sizes, you will have to cut the wagon arms in half and reweld them. Why would you use the center floorpan? And what makes you think that the wagon has a transmission tunnel?
They're east west inline 4's. The transmission is to the side of the engine not the rear. Using the CRV's transfer shaft would mean your planning on using the CRV's realtime system? You should try welding in a viscous coupler off of a wagon instead. It will prevent binding, and will be faster to respond to inverse traction.

The D series transmission won't bolt up to the B series block. It has been done, but it wasn't easy so i've read.

Are these the same as the wagon arms, or the same size of the crx/civic?

Transmission tunnels are much larger then the "tunnel" the driveshaft runs through, try sticking a transmission in there and get back to me.

notice the lack of the word "transmission", its for the driveshaft.
even you yourself have stated that the tranny doesnt even go there, so you should know!
#15 contains the "tunnel", it allows you to use the wagon "drivshaft hanger"

The link doesn't work, I see what you mean though.
He stated that he wanted to use the center floor pan and also additionally the transmission tunnel from an awd wagon. Wouldn't the center floor pan incorporate the driveshaft tunnel? So he wouldn't need the non existent tranny tunnel?
I probably misread sorry.

on the eg/del sol page theres a guy with a awd del sol w/ vids pretty badass if you ask me
it's the crv drivetrain with ..i think it's a b16 but i'm not entirely sure
