Dzus fittings - Are they good for long distance driving?
Specifically, will they hold over long drives with continuous vibrations and such? I can't find any info on them in that regards.
Thanks,
Steve

In theory they should be. But remember why they were made.
There are other type fastners that are used on aircraft, may be you should look into those.
Where do you plan to have these installed ?

Right, but I'm talking about prolonged use, not the 1/4 mile. I only asked here since they're predominantly used for ease of removing panels.
That being said I'm working on a design for a belly pan for my Element as a means to increase aerodynamics and thus fuel economy. I just want to make sure that dzus fittings will hold the pan without eventually working themselves out.

They are used on pretty much every race car without failure... and I'm talking Rolex and Grand Am cars that race for 24 hours straight at high speed... if they are installed correctly they should hold for a long, long time...

Yup so long as they are installed properly. I have them holding a couple body panels and brackets on my street car that i drive quite a bit and have yet to have a problem with 1 coming off.

I drove around in my CRX for 2 years with front and rear bumpers held up by DZUS fasteners. You just have to have a good solid weld and brackets to hold up the DZUS plates. I even had minor fender benders that bent up the brackets. The Dzus Fasteners held up and I just had to bend the brackets back in place.
