Default need help, timing issue

i recently took my distributor apart to change the inside oil seal. When I put the distributr back on i noticed a loss of power and backfiring in 2nd gear. I then set the timing by turning crankshaft for no.1 piston to be at tdc and i noticed that the rotor does not point toward the no1 spark plug its off by a little. What do you guys think i should do next.
