Hello all. I've got a 92 Civic LX with a Vtec-e in it. put a high-flow air filter and intake tube on along with a new distributor last night. Today, while driving, the temperature gauge began to show very hot, but moved up and down for no apparent reason. Engine was relatively cool when the gauge was showing overheat. Any idea? this only just began happening after these replacements.

Also, there are three places on the engine where the radiator fan connector can be hooked up. One at the thermostat housing, one near the valve cover, and another near the front of the engine. What's the difference? The sensor on the thermostat housing won't kick the fan on, and the one below the valve cover keeps it on constantly (i use this one so as to stop the car from overheating).

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Its one of the two sensors below the dizzy on the head.

 

Well, if it's the same sensor I'm thinking of, there is one below the distributor.

I found the sensor that i believe is the one based on your comments. The wires were cut.

I butt-connected them back on to the terminal for the sensor, but somehow the temperature continues to rise to "H". Even disconnected it rises to "H"!!

completely confused me, any ideas would be greatly appreciated...
