Is the fuel filter from a 5th generation Accord LX truely lifetime?
After searching previous posts for some time now, I'm getting mixxed answers to my question above. I had replaced my fuel filter at about 175,000 miles little over a year ago. I am now sitting at around 204,000. I put quite a bit of miles on per year as it is mostly highway. The filter I replaced it with was a stock OEM Honda. Since I had last replaced it I have been told that the OEM fuel filters from 5th generation and newer are lifetime. However after searching previous posts, I am begging to wonder otherwise.
Since this filter is a bit difficult to change and if it truely is lifetime, I would rather leave it alone.
However, since it is in deed a filter and filters gas for dirt, how could this be lifetime? Wouldn't the filtering elements get to the point where they would get clogged to the point where you need to change it?
Thanks for any input.

Look at the service schedule in the owners manual, the filter change is listed under the severe condition listings.
So, your first one lasted 175k and your thinking about changing again after only 29k ???
Preventative maintenance is good, so the severe service interval wouldn't hurt anyting. Especially as the car gets older and there is a higher chance of internal tank rust that the filter will have to deal with...

Apparently, the reason the filter was DUBBED LIFETIME was because the intensive labor needed to get the thing out. Its tucked too far beneath the MC and there is barely enough room to get at it from below.
i am pretty sure that the replcaement will last almost as long as the first one.
my 1994 accord is at 180K and still on the original one..........
