Just purchased a 93 LS special edition with the leather and the GS-R body style and im kinda wondering why it's automatic and has VTEC

 

There's a lot of automatic cars with vtec.

 

I know but I have been researching and found they never made a VTEC LS in 93 so im trying to figure out which VTEC motor it is so i can do a auto-5spd conversion

 

wats the motor code b?

 

could be an jdm auto b18c out of a dc.

 

so if its a b18c then thattl make it easier to find a manual tranny to match up

 

LS doesnt come with vtec buddy.

 

Well i have a 93 Ls-special edition with a vtec unless its not LS, no gsr tags tho

it won't affect you finding a manual tranny, b18 and b16 engines and trannies are interchangeable. what's the code on the block?

 

Head gasket, waterpump and timing belt are all being replaced so im waiting for it to get out of the shop to look at the block.

 

Why don't you just look at the engine code on the block to see what motor its is

 

its either LS/Vtec or its not an LS

i guarantee this is not a vtec car, you may think its vtec, but its probably just a LS stock motor. check the engine stamp and the head code.

 

How is the GSR body style different from ls?

this is why.

 

its not really. just the fender part of the side moulding say "vtec" instead of "dohc" & gs-r emblem on the back.

also only available for 1992-1993

 

wow.. uhm.. just look at ur block to see if u see b18c or b17a .. or if ur valve cover says DOHC VTEC .. if u dont find any of this then ur car is not vtec...

it also didn't have a third brake light in the hatch glass, it's on the wing.

regardless if it's special edition or not, ls' are ls' meaning no vtec. if there is vtec then it was swapped in.

 

take a picture of th eengine bay

Any of these can solve your delimea:

1. it could of been swapped
2. Vtec sticker FTW
3. Its a gsr (look at vin don't remember but 94-00 is dc2)

then have a
