Default WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 96-98 CIVIC AND THE 99-00 CIVIC

I want to know everything different about them besides the front end. and is it really true the engine blocks the car from going faster than 125mph. im going to be getting an ex coupe. which would be better to turbo.

thanks for any help.

Other than that, not much difference. Just a matter of preference, I guess. As for the governor, yes it limits your speed. As far as better to turbo, it's all in how you build it. Go to the SOHC forced induction thread and get to reading.

He pretty much said it but I'm sure NOFX will have something to add.

The biggest difference is OBD2a vs OBD2b.

The 96-98's with keyless entry have it built into the stereo, which sucks.

The 99+ had some emissions revisions. I've been told that the 99+ Y8's have EGR or air injection. Obviously this information has to be confirmed because those are two very different things.

Then there's the B16B...

how could i get rid of the top speed governer, and what im trying to ask is will the sensors get in my way when i put mods on my car compared to the 96-98(air intake, exhaust w/ no cat, etc.) and also will i be able to do as much custom fab to the 99-00 as i would be able the 96-98.

Isnt much difference if you turbo you'll have to switch to OBD-1 anyways. So if it were me Id get whatever model was cheaper if money is an issue. The front bumpers on the 96-98 and 99-00 are also different along with the fenders, headligts, and maybe the hood(Not sure). And other from the minor things listed above thats about it. All the engines are worthless unless turbo'd, an the way I see it, if you got enough money to buy a turbo you better have enough money to build the WHOLE engine.

you have no business doing over 80mph on any roads in florida. I'm sorry, but talking about exceeding 125mph in a honda civic is idiotic. Hell, in almost any car talking about going that fast is idiotic.

As for the rest of your questions, use the search function and read the FAQ's

[freak] u, dont wry about my business. there are plenty of places where i could do over 125. there are lots of drag strips, tracks, and other motorsports in florida where i would be able to go over 125 in a turboed civic.

you cant on the OBDII ECU, thats why people told you to convert to OBDI. a piggy back is a waste of time and can hurt your engine. Just run a converssion harness and a P28.

piggyback is not a waste of time. [freak] stand alone for running 8 psi. then i gotta take it to get tuned and ****. so basically there is no way to eliminate the 99-00 speed limiter. could i swap the 96-98 ecu into a 99-00.
